TONY WALTHAM
If you are looking for an up-to-date analysis of political developments in Thailand, I believe that the best coverage, which is enhanced with pertinent observations, can be found at Bangkok Pundit's blog (bangkokpundit.blogspot.com) which has been tracking "Thai politics and the insurgency in Southern Thailand" since January 2005.
In a section "About this Blog," Bangkok Pundit declines to disclose who he or she is, revealing just that he/she is "a person who works in Southeast Asia and spends a large amount of time in Thailand." The blog has been mentioned in The Age and Christian Science Monitor, and Bangkok Pundit has written for the Washington Post's online section.
If you read the entries in the blog I believe you will be impressed by the objectivity and detailed way that this self-confessed "political news junkie" presents the political landscape; this has been particularly relevant over the past few days with updates being posted every few hours. The layout of the blog is clean, while the format comprises postings of news reports or summaries of media coverage of Thai politics.
Each post is followed by brief comments by Bangkok Pundit. In addition, parts of most posts, from local or international media or other blogs, are highlighted in bold face, making it easy to quickly scan this blog for key remarks.
Readers may comment, while there are news links, links to "the blogs that I read" and an archive. Check it out.
