| Radical sound concept is styled to look like a V12 engine. |
This week's highlight, a Subaru Impreza, is known for it high performance but the audio system in it is even more powerful, judging by its million baht price tag and four-month installation period.
One look at the component diagram and you will notice that it is a one-brand system by Alpine. Every com- ponent is range-topper which is why optimum quality is guaranteed. However sound quality still depends on installation technique.
Installation
Front stage installation was used for the Impreza, so the tweeter and mid range front speakers are installed in top-panel style. The degree or tilt angle of the speaker focuses on pleasing the driver.
The pop-up monitor and head unit is in the middle-upper section for ergonomics and functionality.

The curves of the dashboard console area on the driver's side was modified or levelled out to create optimal sound stage. Genuine suede leather is used to wrap the entire console in order to reduce reflex and noise to enhance sound quality.
The factory-issue air-conditioning unit is replaced with a smaller unit to free up more usable space that will accom- modate a custom designed closed enclosure with a 10-inch subwoofer.
The result is a genuine front stage system. Most front stage systems have the subwoofer at the rear or under the front seats which require phase adjustments for bass upfront sound.
But this Impreza is a real deal - all speakers are in perfect place at the front. Each front door packs in an eight-inch woofer. The door panels are all custom made for optimal mid bass sound.
The rear of the vehicle has two power amplifiers and a sound processor fitted into a sound concept design that looks like a V12 engine. Open the rear boot and it's stunning to look at.
For those who aren't familiar with Imprezas, you might think that it uses a rear V12 engine.
This Sound Concept is radical, to say the least.

| DVI-9990 determines sound quality. |
Nothing too complex. You can use the memory of the PXI-H990 to watch movies or listen to music.
The sound quality delivered is determined by the head unit DVI-9990 which is simple to use, just like con- ventional head units.
As for the pop-up monitor there is no touch-screen technology but a wireless remote for all functions that works just as fine. However there are many buttons to understand and manoeuvre, rather complex, when it comes to adjusting certain parameters for sound quality.
I recommend you consult a professional technician only.
Sound quality
This car emphasises on listening in audio style so I tried every style of music. It was like listening to a home audio system. The sound stage, image and focus were outstanding. Sounds at the micro-dynamic level is clear and the flow continuous.
What I like about it is the mid bass and deep bass sounds. Just great to listen to, with its details right down to focus bass level. Simply excellent sound quality.
This system is one of the best of its kind I have ever tested.
