Suspected drug dealers nabbed in Yannawa sting operation

>>Metropolitan police arrested two suspected major drug traffickers and seized 6,000 methamphetamine pills and 11 million baht worth of assets in a sting operation in Bangkok's Yannawa district yesterday.

The arrested suspects were Amnuay sae Koh, 30, and Chukiat Sutthinoi, 22.

Mr Amnuay said he ordered between 10,000 amd 20,000 speed pills at a time from Meng, an inmate in Bangkok Remand Prison.

He said Meng obtained the substance from a drug-trafficking gang active around the Thai-Lao border areas.

Once the drugs were delivered, Mr Amnuay said his underlings sold them to customers in parts of downtown Bangkok such as Thong Lor, Lumpini and Bang Rak.

He said he had made a living from drug trafficking for more than a decade and earned between 40,000 and 50,000 baht a week on average.

Police said Meng is serving a life sentence in the high-security Zone 2 of the Bangkok Remand Prison, having been convicted of drug dealing.

Police seized assets from the two suspects which may been acquired with money from the sale of drugs, including a house and a number of vehicles
