YOU READERS FROM SUKHOTHAI ARE simply relentless! Not only do the two candidates representing your province now occupy the top spots in our poll, they're also crushing the competition with a combined tally which has already exceeded the 8,000 mark. The two entries from Bangkok have only managed to attract a little over 250 votes in total. At the time of going to press, just over 18,000 votes had been cast in our 9Destinations campaign, more than 40 per cent of which has gone to one or other of the Sukhothai sites. While these numbers are certainly impressive, do bear in mind that just a handful of weeks ago the two Lampang candidates were in virtually the same position, but support for Wat Phra That Lampang Luang and Wat Phra Kaew Don Tao has waned considerably in the interim.
BY THE TIME YOU READ THIS WE SHOULD have welcomed our 6,000th voter. That, plus the fact that the vote tally is getting very close to the 20,000 mark means that we've had to revise all the assumptions we made when we did the preliminary planning for this campaign. Thanks to everybody concerned for the overwhelming response!
IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN VISITING ONE OF the sites in our top nine, here's your chance! The Horizons team will soon be hitting the road to head up to Phu Soi Dao National Park. If you've never been, and want to see why this place is currently sitting in third place in our rankings, you're most welcome to come along. We have space for two additional bods on the expedition and we're prepared to cover all your expenses - transportation, food and porters' fees. Drop by our webboard to find out how you can secure a seat. Also this week we're giving away another voucher for two nights' stay at Kaomai Lanna Resort.
WE'LL BE ANNOUNCING THE WINNERS of this month's "Invite Friends" competition in a few days' time. The first prize is a two-night stay at the Cape Panwa Hotel in Phuket; the second and third prizes being an Olympus digital camera and a Caggioni Travelbag, respectively. Oh and we've had some great news from Olympus: the company has decided to give the person placed second in this month's contest the newer MJU-1200 12 megapixel camera rather than the previously stated 7 megapixel model. Good luck to you all!
