AEON Thana Sinsap (Thailand) Plc., as of August 2001, boasted 430,000 cardholders, a 98.26% performing loan and 2,700 member stores throughout the country. The company also aims to become at the forefront of Thailand’s retail business by expanding its customer base and service network.

Range of services

* Hire-purchase business

Hire-purchase facilities are a form of credit services for customers. They allow the customers to lease goods, with definite conditions stipulated for paying for the goods. Customers may pay for the goods in installments over a period of 6 to 24 months, and can use the credit to purchase household equipment and consumer goods from over 2, 700 stores across the country. The goods, for which the company currently offers hire-purchase credit, can be divided into seven major types, namely electrical appliances, home d?cor, office equipment, sports equipment, musical instruments, mobile phones and automobile equipment.

* Credit card services

The company offers two types of credit card services: (1) Credit purchase services, through which cardholders can use their cards to purchase goods from participating stores. (2) Cash advance services, through which cardholders can use their cards to take out a cash advance from branch offices or cash dispensing machines, of which there are currently 96 in Bangkok and surrounding areas.

The company’s credit cards can also be divided into two types:

1 Domestic credit cards, which can be further divided into two types: 1.1 AEON Card, used in place of cash to purchase goods from department stores and other member stores that accept the card, and 1.2 Affinity card, which is jointly issued by the company and member stores. Customers are entitled to many special privileges from member stores with this card.

2 International credit cards, which can be used by customers to pay for goods and services from stores displaying the MasterCard and JCB logos. The cards can also be used to acquire cash advances from the cash dispensing machines belonging to the company and those belonging to the CIRRUS network, which has 6,000 machines in Thailand and another more than 601,000 machines abroad

* Personal loan business

Personal loans enable customers to acquire money for a variety of purposes. Customers wishing to request personal loan services may submit a request form to any of the company’s 30 branches. Submit the request form together with supporting documents by post, or apply via the Internet.

* Factoring business

Factoring services involve the purchase of debt owed to another at a discount, with an aim to profit by collecting it. At present, the company offers such services to suppliers of Makro, Tesco Lotus, Big C and Jusco.
