Translating newspaper English to Thai

Somyot:	Khris pii nii khun pai chalawng songkraan thii nai la
	คริส ปีนี้คุณไปฉลองสงกรานต์ ที่ไหนล่ะ	Chris, where are you going to celebrate Songkran?
Chris:	yang maidai khit loey nii phoeng klapmaa jaak thiew nuea
	ยังไม่ได้คิดเลย นี่เพิ่งกลับมาจากเที่ยวเหนือ	I haven’t thought about it yet. (I’ve) just come back from the North.
Somyot:	pii thii laew khun pai chalawng songkraan thii nai la
	ปีที่แล้วคุณไปฉลองสงกรานต์ ที่ไหนล่ะ	Where did you celebrate Songkran last year?
Chris:	thii trawk khaosaan saam wan sawn loey khun la ja pai thii nai pii nii
	ที่ตรอกข้าวสาร สามวันซ้อนเลย คุณล่ะจะไปที่ไหนปีนี้	At Khao San Road — three days altogether. Where are you going this year?
Somyot:	phom roe tangtae too pen phuuyai phom mai khoey songkraan duay kaan saatnam loey
	ผมเหรอ ตั้งแต่โตเป็นผู้ใหญ่ ผมไม่เคยฉลองสงกรานต์ ด้วยการสาดน้ำเลย	Me? Since I grew up, I’ve never celebrated Songkran by throwing water.
	suan maak ja phaa phaw mae pai kin khao nawkbaan khae nan eng
	ส่วนมากจะพาพ่อแม่ไป กินข้าวนอกบ้านแค่นั้นเอง	Most of the time, I take my dad and my mum to eat out. That’s all.
Chris:	laew wanyut thii luea khun tham arai
	แล้ววันหยุดที่เหลือคุณทำอะไรล่ะ	What do you do with the rest of the holidays?
Somyot:	nawn tiiphung yuu kap baan tae pii nii phuean chuan paithiew thaew jangwat klai klai phom kamlang tatsinjai yuu
	นอนตีพุงอยู่กับบ้าน แต่ปีนี้ เพื่อนชวนไปเที่ยวแถว จังหวัดใกล้ๆ ผมกำลังตัดสินใจอยู่	Just be lazy at home. But this year (a group of) friends are encouraging me to spend some days in some nearby provinces. I’m thinking about it.
Chris:	jangwat klai klai roe thii nai baang la
	จังหวัดใกล้ๆ เหรอ ที่ไหนบ้างล่ะ	Nearby provinces? Which ones are they?
Somyot:	mai praajiin kaw uthaithaanii rue mai kaw phetchbuun
	ไม่ปราจีณบุรีก็อุทัยธานี หรือไม่ก็เพชรบูรณ์	Either Prachin (Buri), Uthai Thani or Petchbun.
	luan tae pen janwat ngiep ngiep mai klai tae naathiew
	ล้วนแต่เป็นจังหวัดเงียบๆ ไม่ไกล แต่น่าเที่ยว	All of them are quiet provinces, not far away, yet nice to visit.
Chris:	mii arai naathiew baang la
	มีอะไรน่าเที่ยวบ้างล่ะ	What are some of the tourist spots there?
Somyot:	prapheyt phajonphai na jamphuak lawngkaeng phaairuea khayak duunok tokplaa doenpaa pan jakkrayaan
	ประเภทผจญภัยน่ะ จำพวก ล่องแก่ง พายเรือคะยัค ดูนก ตกปลา เดินป่า ปั่นจักรยาน	Sort of adventures like rafting, kayaking, bird watching, fishing, trekking and biking.
Chris:	phuean phom sawng khon ja maa krungtheyp tawn songkraan phawdii khun chuay naenam noy sii waa pai nai dii
	เพื่อนผมสองคนจะมากรุงทพ ตอนสงกรานต์พอดี คุณช่วย แนะนำหน่อยซีว่าไปไหนดี	Two friends are coming to Bangkok during Songkran. Can you suggest a place we should go?
Somyot:	thaa khun chawp nawn phae phaai ruea tawng pai uthai
	ถ้าคุณชอบนอนแพ พายเรือ ต้องไปอุทัย	If you like staying on a raft house and kayaking, (you) should go to Uthai (Thani).
Chris:	phuean phom khao chawp taikhao pan jakkrayaan
	เพื่อนผมเขาชอบไต่เขา ปั่นจักรยาน	My friends like mountain climbing and biking.
Somyot:	ngan praajiin kaw dai phetchabuun kaw dai
	งั้นปราจีณก็ได้ เพชรบูรณ์ก็ได้	Then either Prachin (Buri) or Phetchbun is all right.
Chris:	ey! tae phuean phom khao yaak len songkraan maak
	เอ! แต่เพื่อนผมเขา อยากเล่นสงกรานต์มาก	But my friends really want to join the Songkran Festival.
Somyot:	phom khit waa thuk laeng thawngthiew jat kitjakam nii naenawn
	ผมคิดว่าทุกแหล่งท่องเที่ยว จัดกิจกรรมนี้แน่นอน	I think every tourist spot sets up festivities somehow for sure,
Chris:	dii jang phuean khao ja dai samphat kap kaanlen songkran duay
	ดีจัง เพื่อนเขาจะได้สัมผัสกับ การเล่นสงกรานต์ด้วย	Brilliant! They will experience the Songkran Festival, too.

Do you notice this?

The verb phaa is used quite often in everyday conversation. We normally phaa people or animals to do something somewhere. From the conversation — suan maak ja phaa phaw mae pai kin khao nawkbaan — means most people take their parents to eat out during Songkran festival.
Other examples are:
— khao phaa luuk pai roangrien
— kamlang phaa maew pai haa maw

The Thai patterns for either ... or can be expressed in both negative and positive forms. So — mai praajiin kaw uthaithaanii rue mai kaw phetchbuun — means the same as — praajiin kaw dai uthaithaanii kaw dai rue phetchbuun kaw dai

The term prapheyt and jamphuak are used in the same manners as 'sort of' or 'kind of' suggesting that the speaker is giving some examples as in — prapheyt phajonphai na jamphuak lawngkaeng phaairuea (Sort of adventures like rafting, kayaking….).
