Thai-English vocabulary from the Thai dailies

Sap Jaak Khao looks at a selection of vocabulary from a timely news story in both Thai and English. It is helpful for learners of both languages

This week we are still talking about tennis, especially the results of the second round from the first Grand Slam of the year — the Australian Open. Again the headline of this Thairath 's news report shows the Thai-language headline writing style discussed last week — the omissions of connectors or syllables of long words. Hopefully, reviewing this characteristic of headline writing will help you overcome a stumbling block when reading. There are also some headline terms common in sports stories.
