After the landslide victory of the Thai Rak Thai Party on February 6, there can be no doubt that the government’s populist policies won voters’ hearts. Nevertheless, Prayong Ranarong, a farmer who won a community-leadership award from the Magsaysay Foundation, is very skeptical over the prime minister’s plan to eliminate poverty within four years.
