Universiade comes to Bangkok
Every two years, Summer and Winter Universiades are held under the supervision of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), with the most recent being held in Izmir, Turkey. The 2007 Summer Universiade in Bangkok will involve 10 compulsory events and five optional events. In addition to student games, Thailand's Commission on Higher Education will host an international four-day Universiade Conference from August 9-12. The conference will be held at Bangkok's Thammasat University under the theme "University Sport: Sport creates Man…Man builds a Nation". The conference will serve as a platform for university sport representatives from around the world to meet, exchange views and experiences, and learn from one another. Sub-themes of the conference forums will touch on topics including sport and society, sport and environmental concerns, the globalisation of sport and sport science. //endnote// For more information on Universiade Bangkok 2007, visit www.bangkok2007.org .
