Defending champions Buriram United will face arch-rivals Muang Thong United in a crucial Thai League 1 clash at their Chang Arena today.

With five games remaining, the Thunder Castle are on top of the 16-team standings with 56 points, three ahead of second-placed Bangkok United, who will play Prachuap on Monday.

Guilherme Bissoli, Goran Causic and Supachai Chaided, who has scored 16 goals so far this season, should all start the game for Buriram but Peeradol Chamratsamee is still out injured.

Veteran defender Theerathon Bunmathan, who picked up an injury during the World Cup qualifiers against South Korea last month, made an appearance in the League Cup quarter-final win over Lamphun in midweek before being stretchered off in the second half.

Fifth-placed Muang Thong should give the Thunder Castle a real fight as they head into the match on the back of five successive wins.

Meanwhile, BG Pathum United take on Port in another big match of the weekend involving two top-four teams.

Third-placed Port have 46 points from 25 games, four ahead of the Rabbits.

Pathum advanced to the League Cup semi-finals by beating Ratchaburi 3-0 with two goals from playmaker Chanathip Songkrasin while Port edged Chiang Rai 2-1 to also enter the last four.

In other games today, relegation strugglers Chonburi host Nakhon Pathom while Sukhothai face Uthai Thani, another team in the red zone.
