Following a unanimous decision by its members, Dr. Chana Poomee has been reappointed as Chairman of the Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA) to advance the "TCMA Synergising the Actions toward Net Zero 2050" mission. This broad initiative encompasses the development of new types of low-carbon cement, the expansion of resource efficiency management, the creation of an integrative waste management ecosystem based on the BCG economy, and energy transition innovations. It also includes bolstering cooperation with international organisations to secure green funding for the green economy megatrends and sustainable development.
Dr. Chana Poomee expressed his gratitude towards TCMA members, all of whom are key cement manufacturers in Thailand, for the honour and trust bestowed upon him to continue as TCMA's chairman. He outlined the association's focused efforts towards achieving the Thailand 2050 Net Zero Cement and Concrete goal, emphasising the importance of multisectoral collaboration both domestically and internationally. The strategy encompasses four main areas: 1) Researching and developing new types of low-carbon cement, notably the introduction of hydraulic cement as the primary construction material in Thailand since the beginning of 2024, 2) Expanding green mining practices to enhance resource efficiency in line with government policies, 3) Establishing a waste management ecosystem that utilises the cement industry's production strengths in accordance with the BCG economy, and 4) Promoting innovations for energy transition in the cement industry. Furthermore, TCMA is committed to enhancing partnerships with international agencies to bolster its capacity for work and seize opportunities for green funding, supporting Thailand's net zero target.
The Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA) represents Thailand's leading cement producers, dedicated to making the cement industry a key contributor to the country's infrastructure development, an environmentally-friendly sector, and a champion of social responsibility and sustainable development. TCMA members include SCG Cement-Building Materials Co., Ltd., Siam City Cement PCL., TPI Polene PCL., Asia Cement PCL., Jalaprathan Cement PCL., Thai Pride Cement Co., Ltd., and Globe Cement Co., Ltd. As the cement sector's representative in Thailand, TCMA collaborates closely with the government, and domestic and international professional, industrial, and educational sectors. TCMA is an active member of the Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA), the ASEAN Federation of Cement Manufacturers (AFCM), and supports the operations of the cement industry club under the Federation of Thai Industries.
