Huawei successfully hosted the inaugural Digital Sustainable University Day on April 25, 2024. The event provided updates on technology trends and solutions geared towards equipping educational institutions with the necessary technology infrastructure for digital transformation, by collaborating with Chiang Rai Rajabhat University and LannaCom at the event that was held at Rajabhat University for the first time.

Mr. William Zhang, President of Enterprise Business of Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd., commented, “Technology is indispensable for businesses, particularly in education, which is the foundation for development of all sectors. There is a growing inclination towards advancing intelligence in critical areas like learning, teaching, scientific research, and system management, marking a significant period of transformation.”

Educational practices have evolved from traditional blackboards to multimedia tools, enabling uninterrupted learning and shifting from one-way lectures to more student-centred approaches.

As a premier ICT provider, Huawei is dedicated to deploying intelligent campus networks, data centres, cloud computing, smart classrooms, and other technologies. These initiatives are aimed at fostering innovative talent in higher and vocational education, speeding up scientific research, and narrowing the digital divide.

According to the QS World University Rankings, over 30 of the world's top 100 universities globally have partnered with Huawei to implement digital transformation technologies that enhance educational quality, research efficiency, and innovation capabilities.

"This tech event is more than just a showcase of cutting-edge technology; it’s a valuable opportunity for us to gather, exchange ideas, and understand the real needs of users to improve cooperation. Chiang Rai Rajabhat University is a leading advocate for world's leading sustainable development. By harnessing modern technology, we can generate significant value,” Mr. Zhang said.

The event also featured a signing ceremony for the Huawei ICT Academy project, aimed at jointly fostering the development of high-tech talent as preparing specialised technologies to equip future professionals with digital skills that meet industry demands.

Participants in the Huawei ICT Academy will receive Huawei's Professional Standard, an industry-recognised world-class certification, enhancing their employment prospects. This includes opportunities for internships with Huawei Thailand and potential employment with Huawei or its affiliates, which are involved in more than 2,200 Huawei ICT Academy projects worldwide.

Assistant Professor Dr. Sorachai Puengthaisong, President of Chiang Rai Rajabhat University, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Huawei, a globally recognised technology leader, to develop an industry that not only focuses on advancing technology but also on enhancing skills for school personnel, students, and technology infrastructure. This is in line with the university's development guidelines towards becoming a CRRU Smart University. We believed that such a cooperation will help promote teaching and learning in the digital age and will benefit students, teachers, and personnel, as well as providing social services to all Thai people.”
